Subject: [TNCANNON] Manus Family of Cannon County, TN
Date: Wed, 03 Nov 2010 13:56:59 -0400

I have been updating my family genealogy books and uploading material to my ancestry tree.

I noticed that on the family of Daniel Franklin Manus(1788) & Mary M. Patrick that for their son Wm. C. Manus born 1823-1825 everyone has him the same/or confused with Wm. Elijah Manus, son of David Manus & Victoria Kirby, brother of Daniel Franklin Manus.

Wm. C. Manus married Mary Ann Manus on 02/27/1841 in Cannon County, Tennessee, daughter of David Manus and Victoria Kirby and sister to Wm. Elijah Manus.

Wm. Elijah Manus born 1825 married Mary Ann Patrick on 02/13/1845 in Cannon County, Tennessee.

The 1850 Cannon County, TN census book that was published indicates that this is the Wm. C. Manus who married Mary Ann Manus in 1841. When I first started doing my research 12 plus years ago, I was told that this Wm. C. Manus possibly died in the Civil War.

I'm not sure if anyone on the list can shine light on this issue as all that have ancestry trees out there have the same data. It is very important to verify before you copy from tree to tree. Also it gets very confusing when the same family uses the same names and they name their children the same with basically very close DOB's.

I would love to hear from anyone researching this line as together maybe we can sort it out.

Thanks...Robie
