In regards to Mark Treadway's idea of a festival for us junkies of ancestory, I wholly applaud the idea and would love to attend. As a historian and professional speaker, I would love to take part in presenting the fascinating adventure I have enjoyed these 2 1/2 years I have intensely searched for my family. Now with some 8,000 names in my tree, I have been able to trace back my roots to the very early days of Warren/ Cannon County and middle Tennessee as well as having one of the early citizens of Jamestown, Virginia and the colonial settlement there (1636). American history is the history of our families not just something dry in a book. This is cause for celebration. Let the party commense.

Hello I am Mark Treadway
I own the Genealogy Book Shoppe in Tazewell Tn and I am starting to work with Cumberland Gap Tn for a event next year.
I was wanting to know how many would be interested in a Genealogy Jamboree in Cumberland Gap Tn next year. We have started gathering information about putting this event on. It would be free to the public with having societies, authors, different pioneering crafts and speakers of different sort. This is in the beginning stage and would like your input, if you might come. We already have some societies that have committed and authors what we are hoping for is to fill the streets of the Gap with Genealogy and Heritage, as I have gotten one Native American group that said they would come. Since Cumberland Gap is the gateway to the west seems like a good place to have a Jamboree, everyone one way or another has ties to the Gap. Please let me know what you think. At If you pass this message to other states and county web sites let me know so I do not do it again.
Thank you for your time
Mark Treadway
