This is the will of John Thomas - Greenville, S.C. - probated 1806
wife - Margaret
dtrs. - Elizabeth Thomas & Nancy Ragsdale
sons - John Thomas, James Thomas, Camp Thomas, George Thomas, Joseph Thomas,
William Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Thomas Jefferson Thomas
Adm. - His wife Margaret and oldest son John Thomas
The land received by the heirs was on Horse Creek, a branch of the Reedy
River. It was probably
near the town of Fork Shoals.
This is the will of John Thomas of Orange Co. North Carolina - Will Book A
Dated 24 April 1765:
wife - Elizabeth
dtr. - Mary
sons - John and James Thomas
He says "my three children" No executer named
Witnesses: Henry Ledbetter, John Hamlett, Ann Hamlett
From "Abstracts of the Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of
Orange Co. N.C. Sept. 1752 - Aug. 1766"
Page 360 - dated May 1765 - "John Thomas (aged 8) son of John Thomas, dec'd,
bound to John Camp till 21."
This is why I think Margaret was a "Camp" but I have no proof. Both John
Camp and Thomas Camp lived on
Horse Creek of the Reedy River in Greenville District South Carolina. They
lived near John Thomas.
Thanks,
Naomi Thomas Vickers
