"H" Co, 52nd Tennessee Infantry, with the rank of Sergeant. (Tennessee had
2 companies in the 52nd).
The 52nd Infantry was active with the Army of Tennessee from Murfreesboro
to Atlanta, moved back to Tennessee with Hood and fought at Bentonville. It
lost fifty per cent of its men at Chickamauga. Only a remnant remained to
be surrendered on April 26, 1865. Its field officers were Col. Benjamin P.
Lea, Lt. Col John W. Estes, Lt Col H.L. Oliver, and Major Thomas G. Rundle.
The unit was consolidated with the 51st Infantry and then known as the 51st
