Dear Friends,
You have been so helpful in the past, and I am turning to you again.
I am steill trying to determine who the parents were of Lewis Taylor, born abt 1807 KY; lived in Warrick Co., IN by 1836; in 1849 arrived in Perry Co., IL and died there in 1881 .
He married Malinda/Belinda Fisher in Warrick Co., 1836. He appears in the 1840 Fed Cen for Warrick Co., IN, near Redding Taylor, and there is much circumstancial evidence that Redding is his father, but I've seen nothing solid. This Redding is believed by most researchers to be the son of Moses Taylor, Sr. of Craven Co., NC, who lived in Warren Co., KY from abt 1796-1816.
However, in the 1880 census, my Lewis indicates both his parents were born in TN. And when Lewis purchased Fed land in IL, he is identified as "Lewis Taylor the second" each time, although never on any other document. (I realize this does not necessarily mean his father was Lewis). No other Lewis Taylors made such land purchases in IL or lived in Perry Co., IL at that time. The only other Lewis Taylor in Warrick Co., IN older than my Lewis is not his father. And Redding Taylor, son of Moses Sr., had no brother Lewis, although he might have been otherwise related to the elder Lewis in Warrick Co.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you ,
Juli Claussen
