It looks as if Stephen Smith chose as his executors his wife, Rosanna, his brother-in-law Joseph Taber, and his (brother?), Isaac Smith, as the third executor.

I find it interesting that the posting to get letters of administration didn't mention his adoptied daughter, Rebecca Johnston, Mrs. Oliver T. Burt, my great-great-granmother. Of course, at the time he would have made his will, she had already married into a wealthy family., so ...

Now to try to get copies of Stephen and Rebecca's wills.
