Subject: [S-I] from the list admin: my father has passed

Hi folks,

My father passed away early Saturday morning. I know a few people here were
aware of his sufferings. He wasn't Scotch Irish (but rather Scots and
English), so I guess it's off topic.... My apologies. An obit and photo is
on line. Last time I was in Northern Ireland and showed someone my parents'
photo he said "They look like Ulster Protestants". Same bloodlines. My
mother was kind of half Irish and half Ulster Scots, only her Irish half was
also somewhat Ulster Scots (Marshalls? Doesn't sound Irish to me....) and
her Scots side got Irisher and Irisher. That's what 300 years in Ireland
will do to you. The Andersons supposedly came with the McDonalds in the
1550s. They became red headed, musically gifted Covenanters who were
carpenters. Probably related to the Andersons who built Bushmills.

Photo is here (my mother who is in the photo passed away 2 years ago):

Obit here, scroll down to William Mason:

His death was actually somewhat comforting in that at the end the hospital
was able to keep him comfortable (he was in respiratory failure) and on his
last night he was very very happy because all his family -- his parents, his
deceased sisters -- even the one who died at age 10 in 1935 -- were there.
They say you see your loved ones when you're dying, and apparently it's
true.
