Hi Carolyn, I would not accept these webpages. They're clues. Some clues don't lead anywhere. You have to seek out primary evidence in several locales. Each one requires that you learn to do genealogy in a different country. When you are through -- you'll be an expert! But it is not something you'll do in a week. Or even a month.
Jedburgh can be quite difficult. Many of the border counties didn't have many records in the first place -- or churches for that matter. In addition there was some records destruction. So Jedburgh is not good. However the land records will have survived. If you do not know the term "sassine" it is a sign you'll need to read a book on Scottish genealogy to do a decent job of researching this family. Also you'll need to learn something or other about titled families.

Subject: Re: [S-I] Elliott from Poland? to PA
This is not my webpage, but it is interesting. Beginning in PA it is
close to what I have found, but the generations don't match. The
documentation is very sparse and a quick check shows many dates that do not
agree with my research. Will have to study what she has a lot further
before I can accept it. I live in Franklin County PA so can recheck the
original sources that she mentons in this area. Might as well check to see
if she has that part right before I check out the Scottish part.
. Thanks so much for all your help. Carolyn
