Here's webpage on Scots becoming citizens in Gdansk. Earlier than your time, but these merchant families would move members about -- maintaining a presence in the city by sending a son who would then send his children back to apprentice and train in the family business not only to make sure they retained their original ethnic identity but also to make sure they knew the other parties in the family business well. Perhaps then the son's son started a new line of credit in yet another city in another country.

He might have some other leads for you..... It looks to me like it was German in 1717, not Polish.
