Charles,

My earliest known Abernethy ancestor (William) was born about 1720 and as far as I can tell, came from Antrim.? I have wondered if he was a son of Rev John Abernethy (October 19, 1680 - December 1, 1740).? I have never found any information on his children, but I am aware he had at least one son due to?his grandson, the surgeon, John Abernethy.

Also, if you go to the website http://bellsouthpwp.net/n/s/nss8660/DNA/DNA.html?, it lists?about a dozen Abernethy's who came from Ireland about the same time.

This is from Falley's "Irish and Scotch-Irish Ancestral Research" Vol I,
page 395

Rev. John Abernethy (Sr.) was my 7th g-grandfather through his daughter,
Mary.

Mary married Capt. David Cargill Jr (Scotch-Irish) at Londonderry, New
Hampshire, 1722. David met Mary Through his brother, Rev. John Cargill who
attended college with Rev. John Abernethy Jr.

I'm interested in any other possible information on Mary or the Abernethy
family in Northern Ireland.

thanks, Charles
