Hi folks,

I subscribe to a free newsletter produced by DMK HERITAGE. They are a firm that scans and OCRs old books and sells them on CDs much more cheaply than if you tried to buy the old, out of print, rare, book. Their focus is the traditional Scotch Irish areas of the 13 colonies: PA down through Georgia. They have a section on Scotch Irish heritage.

They are putting on line what they call Free Small Books. I downloaded one and it was rather large. These books are also not OCR'd...meaning run through software that 'reads' the scan and converts it to text so you can search it. You gotta read it. They may have included an index at end.... Due to limited space they will alternate.

The newsletter identifies these:
Jan 6-26 Marriage Bonds of Tryon County NC from 1769-1870.

and Annals and Parish Register of St. Thomas - St. Denis

Jan 27-Feb 16 Lunenburg County, Va. Wills 1746-1825

and St. James Church, Goose Creek, SC 1706-1909

Feb 17-Mar 9 Frederick Parish, Va. 1744-1780, Churches, Chapels, etc.

and Friends Records of Births and Deaths, Cane Creek, NC

Mar 9-30 Marriage Notices in SC & American General Gazette

and Chronicles of St. Marks Parish Santee Circuit,

and Williamsburg Township, SC.

You can sign up for the newsletter and be notified of when the free books change. I just downloaded the Tryon Co Marriage Bonds...You can also view them on line and, if you find something, download just the page with the info...but don't forget the front page of the book or soemthing you'll be wondering "Where the heck did this come from??'.

You'll see:
"Free Small Books click here" (not here though...there!)
Enjoy!
