Similarly, I have encountered my relatives living in the "wrong"
parish...

One Griffin's source lists them in "Magherally" and another in
"Magheralin."
Both are in County Down. So, depending upon the spelling and clarity of
the
source, and the "disposition" of the transcriber, an entry of
"Magheral-scribble" could be interpreted either way -- as "ly" or "in."
