Here's my list
1) Tombstones
2) Land Deeds
3) Estate records
4)Business agreements
5) Church records
6) Genealogies written before 1900
6) Census records
7) Town/County/State (in that order) histories

Everyone's experience may be different, but remember this is names not dates. Date reliability would be a different order. Basically what I found is if the person had little or nothing to do with the document after it was written the worse the surnames. The greater the use of the document by the person, the higher probability the name was correct or corrected.
