Hi Charles,
Preacher at Coleraine?? Assuming you are talking about Ulster,
which congregation do you mean? The Church of Ireland? Or the
several Presbyterian ones?
Unfortunately I've never seen a history of Coleraine that would
include them all. You see a lot of congregational histories of
particular congregations, so as usual its a struggle.
The CD that has Hanna "The Scotch-Irish"??? It's at a library
near you!! Or buy it off the web at www.genealogy.com .Hanna,
the book is free at www.ancestry.com as Scots-Irish but if you
are serious about your research you'll read it. You can find
the book at various libraries. As the local reference librarian --
she's paid to answer these questions and since she's in the same
place as you she can help you find local copies a lot better than
we can here. (Where do you find the reference librarian? Working
in a library, hopefully, unless your community laid them all
off or offshored the job to India.).
Check the archives for Rev Coleraine and you'll probably turn up
every post that has a Rev from Coleraine in it. The Mullins have
written a number of books on local history of the area but often
they do the history of a specific parish or congregation and often
the books aren't indexed.
If you are working on the 1718 crowd, be sure to check the archives
as one of our list members has discovered the estate that most of
them came from and that info is in the archives. The information
is published in an article in the Scotch Irish Journal.
Lewis's Gazetteer would give you the names of congregations and
possibly ministers in the area in the 1830s....not 1718 tho!
