Hi,
I am new to the group and I am trying to find my McIntyre(McIntire)
ancestors. My earliest is James McIntyre born in Scotland and was in
Cumberland Co Pa.( according to write up on one of his grandsons in a
Westmoreland History) .

I have James on the census of Derry Twp.in 1800, by 1810 his name is gone
from the census and Agness McIntire appears, by 1820 Agness is listed as
a widow and there are the following John (my gr gr grandfather), Thomas,
Alexander, James and Solomon.( The above are all sons of James McIntire
plus there was one daughter Mary married to Henry Belcher recorded in
Westmoreland Co History) further proven by the will of Alexander Mcintire
( court records Westmoreland Co Pa May Term 1843) as it names his
brothers and sisters. and identifies John and Thomas as going to
Armstrong Co Pa..

The John going to Armstrong Co Pa is my great great grandfather.

In the probate records of James McIntire 1810 mentions Thomas Culbertson,
when I checked out this man, he is described in Dallas "History of
Westmoreland Co " as living near St Clair Station and Latrobe in Derry
Twp. he was a wheelwright and built one of the first stone houses in
Derry Twp. ( which led me to believe that James of the Probate Records
of 1810 was probably our Ancestor.

I have a lot of information on James family but none on him so far. I
have a copy of David Dobson's Book "Scot's Colonists of Early America
1612-1783 and he does not appear in those records/

Thank You,
Betty McIntire Goodwin
