I am very familiar with the Foxfire Series and it is, indeed, well worth reading a few volumes of. Besides the Genealogical aspect, the books can give the younger researcher a deep insight into how people lived and survived.

To this day, I use "old fashion" lye soap that I bring home in rather large quantities, from the east on our yearly trips. Not only is it nostalgic - the darn stuff really works!
