What we are talking about is a farm.
Carucate
A tax which replaced the danegeld (an old tax referring to Danish rule) in
England. The carucate was collected
on plowed ground only.
Latin, carucata. (not applicable!)
The Doomsday book says many things that are really not helpful to the
novice Genealogist. It is best to stick to basic data and leave the rest
aside.
