Subject: [Sc-Ir] MC MANEMY question
Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 06:51:41 -0700
Hello list; I have a question for you that I suppose you have been asked
many, many times but as I am new to the list, I am going to ask it and see
what happens! Does anyone know how my maiden name of MC MANEMY may have
been spelled in Ireland, say, in the 1800's? My GGG Grandfather was born in
Scotland but his son, my GG Grandfather, John, was born in Ireland circa
1816/19. On the 1870 Census of Wisconsin, USA, John had put his father for
the first time as born in Scotland, no name or place of course! Hope someone
can help me as there is so many variants of his name here in the US that I
am sure that far back in Ireland there must have been many ways of spelling
it also. Would the records have used Sean instead of John? Sincerely.
Betty from Arizona USA
