I am trying to get ahold of the Erwin researcher who posted a question about
the Irvines in Ireland and Scotland. I am wondering where he is searching. I
have two Irwin or Irvin mysteries. I am searching for Irwin/Irvines in
Pennsylvania. John Irwin is the son of James. John married to Margaret
Guthrie Fulton, daughter of Abraham Fulton and Margaret Guthrie of County
Derry, Ireland. In Westmoreland County, PA, she married John Irwin and had 5
children. I am descended from their son, John. John married twice, Sarah
Sally LaFever and Ann McConnell. I am descended through the daughter, Martha
Ann, of his first marriage. Martha Ann Irwin married Samuel Sinclair
Edmundson first, then to James Ralston. When Margaret Guthrie Fulton Irwin's
husband died, she took the children to Elizabeth Township, Allegheny, PA and
leased land to a coal company to provide for her children's future.
My second Irwin/Irvin mystery is Nancy Irwin/Irvin born in North
Carolina possibly. She married James Anderson, who was born in York, York,
PA. He served in the Revolutionary War in North Carolina. I believe that he
and his wife died in Kentucky.
I am trying to find information on James, who is said to have possibly
married his cousin, Jean McDowell, in Ireland as well. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
