HI - I'M new to the list. i enjoyed your list of rules. I'm looking
for more information on Oliver McCAUSLAND or MCCASLIN. We have an
immigration record of him coming over to America in 1768 at the tender
age of 19 - all alone as far as we can tell. He became a farmer in
Virginia . We believe he came from County Tyrone. He was mentioned in
a will of Benjamin and Sarah McCartney . The ship he came over on was
a 'snow' called the Betty Gregg - the ship's master was John Monford.
There is red hair in our family - so i think of him as having red hair.
Would treasure any information about where he lived, his family and their
circumstances. We have been assured that this last name was probably
originally Scottish. We have a family legend that one of his
descendants - possibly Naamon McCaslin, had bright red hair and was
stolen by the Indians when he was very small - like 2 or 3 years old.
He must have been quite a terror as they returned him.
Also, have a Samuel FRAME born 1823 in Ireland. We show a daughter born
in Belfast, Ulster, Ireland in the year 1843. Now, I don't know if the
surname of Frame is Scotch-Irish, Irish, or anything else. Would love
to hear any clues .
Mary McCashland
