I will be doing research in the Caribbean this summer for a book I'm
working on that focuses on eighteenth-century British involvement in the

area. My first task is tracking down the real-life figures in Janet
Schaw's Journal
of a Lady of Quality, the travel journal of a Scottish woman (sailed on
the Jamaica Packet) whose
family had plantations (and slaves) on Antigua; she also travelled to
Nevis and St. Kitts to visit friends. Her journal
focuses on 1774-77. I'm interested in finding wills, deeds, lists of
slaves held, and other documents that would be associated with the
family's (or contemporary) plantations.

I hope you can help me with research sources for the Schaw family.

Kind Regards,

Lisa Blansett
