Hi folks, what they'll tell you in the genealogy classes is not to
waste too much time on the theory part. The reason is that just like
now, people were always allowed to name their kid whatever they wanted.
Yes, it you named it Moon Unit Zappa the community disapproved. Maybe
the priest wouldn't baptize it, but beyond that whatever you wanted.
Some families had naming conventions, some didn't. Middle names?
My great grandmother's was GRANT. ANy Grants in her past? NO. SOmeone
was into Ulysses S Grant. Also they named children after ministers
and priests.
