Since the list is rather quiet for the moment with no arguing going
on<g>I would like to post my surname interests from Counties Armagh and
Down. My grandfather was born William John Fugard in 1870 and changed
the family name to Feugarde when he came to the US in 1890 from Co.
Armagh. Since I was always told he was a French Huguenot(sorry, not
Scotch-Irish), I inquired on a couple of French lists, and was told
Fugards and Feugards were found in France between 1531 and 1891, but not
after that time. I have no idea where and I am unfamiliar with French
so have no more information. Fugards were found in County Down, but I
have no idea of the relationship.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have checked the Griffith's
records and found only 1 there and no tithe records of them. I have my
grandfather's place of birth(Bessbrook,Armagh) and birth record, but
would like to locate other Fugards. Louise
