Did those Catholic allies of Charles I emigrate to Northern Ireland following their defeat in the Civil War? I am trying to figure out how the Girlington, Gellentine family got to King William Co., VA in the early 1700's or shortly before. They lived in Lancashire and the port of Liverpool was right there. But did the defeated Catholics first emigrate to Ulster? If this is off-topic I apologize and promise not to eat any bread pudding tonight.
