Hello,
I am new to this web site and I am looking for ancestors that have
stated on their 1880 Census in Fortevoit, Perthshire, Scotland, that
their place of birth is Ireland, Co. Mayo.. Could anyone please help
me? I am wondering if Co. Mayo is the place of birth or would there be
a town or village within Co. Mayo. I have absolutely no information
about my great-grandparents....They have gone by the names of Hoban
/Hobin?? Very confusing...and everyone with the name of Hoban/Hobin has
named their 8 to 10 children the same. I am looking for Patrick Hoban
who in the 1891 census went by Peter Hobin. He married Bridget
Kennan/Cannon????They were married at St. John's Catholic Church in
Perth, Scotland on March 2nd, 1862..Their children's names were John,
Sarah,Mary, Andrew, James, Thomas, Peter, Catherine, William( who is my
grandfather) and Annie..
Patrick(Peter) Hoban/Hobin's father was Michael Hoban. Michael was a
laborer and he married Sarah Clark.
Bridget Cannon's parents were Paul Cannon who was a sailor and was
deceased at the time of Patrick and Bridget's marriage. Mary Cannon
nee Beith was Bridget's mother. She was living with the Hoban/Hobins in
the 1891 census and her age was stated as 83.
I am at a loss with all of these ancestors...Each stating that they were
born in Co. Mayo...
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't even know if I am on the right e-mail address
Regard,
Nancy
