Hi All
I am having the devils own time in attempting to find information on 3
sections of Belfast in the __17th century History. My goal is to form some
sort of Idea on the lifestyle of the below listed areas in and around
Belfast, from any published source available at a good library (University
level). All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Parish of Ballynure, Bally mcrocke townland
Parish of Balleylinny, Grange of Ballywalter
Parish of Island Magee, Ballyprior more
All of these areas are within spitting distance of Belfast proper (5 miles
or less).
For those of you who are interested in County Antrim of the 17th century, I
have a copy of Heads and Hearths by S.T. Carleton, which covers the Hearth
tax on that county between 1666 and 1669. It is considered 95% accurate and
if your ancestor had a Hearth in his home in that period there is a good
chance he will be listed.
The list is not Alphabetized but is by Parish and Townland. I will be happy
to check for you if you can give the surname, Parish and townland in
question.
