Hello Scotch-Irish listers,
I'm new to this list, and would much appreciate help tracing these
ancestors, who I presume went from Scotland to Ireland at some time.
DUNCAN, I've traced back to a marriage of William DUNCAN to Rebecca ROANE
(7 April 1793) at Birr, Co. Offaly. One of their sons, George, my gg
grandfather (b. 1799), enlisted in the Army and went to India. Another son,
Robert DUNCAN, farmed at Ballaghmore, and later worked for Messrs. Fitt and
Sons, Newgate Brewery, Limerick.
John McKENNIE's family was said to come from Donegal (18th Century). He was
supposed to have been killed at Waterloo (legend) and he was brought up in
another family. He was in Cheriton, Kent in 1804, probably an Army posting,
where his son was born.
Any suggestion for researching these lines in Ireland would be much
appreciated.
Best wishes,
Brian Duncan
