Subject: Scots/Irish first names

Hi, does anyone know the origin or meanings of the names Vester and Chesley?
I had a grand-uncle named Lewis LaVes Montgomery and they called him Vester,
presumably from the name of LaVes. I was assuming Chesley to be a variation
of Charles or Chester, but just don't know. Can anyone out there help me?
