Subject:Ships from Ireland to Early America
David Dobson, the prolific producer/compiler of information concerning Scots
and the Scotch-Irish, has a new book out titled "Ships from Ireland to Early
America, 1623-1850." The book contains a list of 1,500 ships, arranged
alphabetically, known to have sailed from Ireland to North America. For
each ship, there is a port of embarkation, port of arrival, and dates for
each. He frequently includes the number of passengers and the name of the
captain as well.
In addition, each entry is coded as to the sources he used in the
compilation.
The value of this work is that if you only know the approximate date of
arrival (year) of your ancestor and the North American port of arrival, this
work will permit you to narrow down your search to a few specific ships.
Copies are available from the Clearfield Co., 200 E. Eager St., Baltimore,
MD 21202, or Tel: 410-625-9004. Cost is $18.50 plus $3.50 s&h.
