Hi all!

I have come across a great-grandmother who was adopted and married a McCain. I would like to obtain a copy of the adoption records and origional birth certificate. I know that these records are usually closed, but is there a length of time after which they are considered part of the public domain?

I have asked this on another mailing list but maybe one of you have also dealt with this problem. Thank you.

p.s. Every McCain man in my direct line, excepting perhaps the above mentioned, has married a woman with strong English roots . This is going back 6 generations so far. Must be something there!
