This post has to do with S-I culture. Or, perhaps it is psychology.
What was it about our folks that made them so willing to drop everything
and go get into a fight? Was it their almost visceral hatred of the
British that inspired them to a virtual blood lust against the minions
of George III? In the War of 1812 at New Orleans they were of the same
mindset. And in the Texas Revolution (a S-I war if their ever was one),
they fought for a cause they had hardly become familiar with. What was
at work in their psyche? Perhaps my questions can't be answered.
