The Great Wagon Road started in PA (near York) and followed the Shenandoah
Valley South, running through Pittsylvania/Henry Counties and ending up in
Augusta, GA. Counties changed so much in the 18th century that you would
need a date in order to track which counties it ran through. The first trip
down this route was taken about 1709 by a minister.
Don't think it was used to get from VA to TN. The route they took would
depend on the time period.
I don't know of an online website but there is an excellent book you might
wish to read. The Great Wagon Road by Parke Rouse.
