The bible for passenger lists is the PILI, Passenger and Immigration Lists
Index, which is now up to 20 volumes, each like a NY City phone directory. It
should be available in most historical and geneaogical libraries. The first
volume appeared in 1982 and a new addendum comes out yearly. Each volume is
arranged alphabetically by surname and given name. Almost any roster of
passengers or immigrants to US or Canada that ever appeared anywhere has been
incorporated. Most of the older lists from colonial era were included in the
early volumes. As new lists are identified they get added to later volumes.
To do a complete job you have to work your way thru all of the volumes
looking up the surname you are interested in.
