Hi Dena,
You asked about Lorenzo Dow ... apparently he was quite famous. This is
from a biographical sketch of Rev. Robert Dobbins, also a Methodist
preacher on the circuit in Ohio during the same period. Doesn't tell
you much genealogically, I admit, but it does make the duo sound like
quite a pair!

>From Thompson's "Historical Collection of Adams County, Ohio:"
Robert Dobbins, the eldest child of William and Mary (McClain) Dobbins,
was born in Pennsylvania, April 20, 1768. In 1791 he married Jane
Boyce, and in 1804 they settled in Adams County. Robert Dobbins entered
the Methodist ministry early in life, and was regarded as one of the
most eloquent preachers of his day. He and the famous Lorenzo Dow were
present at the hanging of David Beckett at West Union in December, 1808,
and are said to have obtained a confession from the condemned man before
his execution.
