Dear David,

What's undoubtedly true is that at the time of St. Patrick's mission to the
Irish, there was no Roman church as we know it today in existence. It
was still evolving. I am not sure anyone knows for sure where St. Patrick
was really born -- somewhere on the western shores of Scotland or
England. IN those days neither country existed as well. It was an entirely
different world. Hence all can claim St. Patrick as he preceeds our world
and our churches.

<HUMOR WARNING> I once read an Irish-American Republian calling
St. Patrick just another English import.I suspect the lad was right!

He is one of those things we should all be sharing, not fighting about.
