Linda,My youngest daughter(4th.) included the Handfasting ritual as a
part of their regular Christian service.the couple joined hands as in a
handshake and the clasped hands were actaully bound ,in this case by a
braided horsehair rope made especially for the occassion.( they are both
horse people) and vows of binding and fidelity are exchanged.This was
all outdoors under towering evergreen trees to the tunes from a hammered
dulcimer playing Celtic tunes .It would not have surprised me at all if
Druids and little people had come dancing out of the woods.And durning
the reception,which was held at the horse barn,I think some came out and
joined in the Maypole dance.Sure and everyone had a grand old time.Take
