CARMICHAEL: My husband's gg-grandfather, Albert Carmichael left (place
unknown) Scotland and went to Ireland (don't know what
year, probably early to mid 1800's) and worked as Land Steward for the
Earl of Leitrim at Anagh-Lloyd, Dromod, Mohill, Co.
Leitrim. We do know that Ian's grandfather, Lloyd Carmichael was born
in Hulme, County of Lancaster (didn't know there was
such a county!) 5 October 1859, and his father was William Carmichael.
However, both my mother and father in-law (Ian's
parents) told me that Lloyd was born 4 October 1860 in Manchester! (1
day and 1 year different), but that his father was
Albert. Perhaps they had missed William's generation! I might have
thought that I'd got the birth cert. for the wrong Lloyd
Carmichael, except that on the birth cert. Lloyd's mother's maiden name
was Elizabeth Stephenson, which fits in nicely with
Ian's father's name: Lloyd Stephenson Carmichael! Have I got you all
thoroughly confused? Anyway, we have written to many
places in Ireland, even to Anagh Lloyd, but the letter was returned
unknown by the Post Office there! Can anyone enlighten us
- please? Thankyou. Liz and Ian [Lloyd] Carmichael, Canada.
