I would appreciate any assistance I could get on these families.

In 1877 my great grandfather, WILLIAM FERSON (age 20) of Ballinagilly, (son of
DAVID FERSON) married REBECCA IRWIN of Altmore (daughter of THOMAS IRWIN and
SARAH PHERSON)

Currently I am looking for FERSONs on David's side and PHERSONs on Sarah's
side. I have no idea at present who WILLIAM FERSON's mother was. Note on
William's side... the FERSON spelling and on Rebecca's side...the PHERSON
spelling. I would love to be able to find when the "Ph" was changed to the
"F" and also would love to be able to trace when the Mc and Mac was dropped
off the name. I would love to be able to find the connection between these
families and the MCPHERSONs and MACPHERSONs in Scotland. Although at present
it seems impossible. I guess I should say improbable but not impossible. :)
Not gonna give up!

Any assistance you can give me on these families will be greatly appreciated.
Of course any names connected with the IRWIN side would be appreciated too.
There are alot of BENSONs on copies I have as well from Pomeroy Presbyterian
Church records. The connection is where MARY JANE BENSON married JOHN IRWIN.

There is a note on the research copy I have stating that "The registers of
Pomeroy Parish Church prior to 1845 for marriages and prior to 1877 for
baptisms and burials perished in the destruction of records in Dublin in
1922".

As many of you have mentioned before...it gets confusing because you run
across people with the same name! ARGHH LOL

Thanks again for your assistance,
Gloria
