To Everyone on the List,
My early immigrant ancestors to Virginia, 1683, from Ulster used a lot of names that don't sound very Irish, such as Mathew, Abraham, Isaac, James, Jacob, William, Thomas, Joseph, et. al. These sound like OT names and Protestant names; however, it seems that the family was originially RC in Ulster. Can anyone comment on this phenomenon?
