Sorry I goofed on the "KIRWOOD" reference.. forgot to clean my buffer. I have
two other names to add to this: CANER, DIBBLE, LLOYD, SEABURY
Here is the Palmer paragraph:
>From HISTORY OF STAMFORD - Chapter: NEW FAMILY NAMES 1771 pg 188-189
PALMER: Samuel and Hannah CROSS, married March 31, 1715, and had daughter
Hannah. This family name is still honored not only on our citizens' list,
but in one of our finest hills.

I have a few names of "New Family Names in Stamford CT' from the _History of
Stamford_, page 188-189, who appeared between 1680 and 1770 (mostly
1710-1730) They appeared close to the same time my Scot-Irish? family
(LONGWELL) came from Cornwall in 1735..... These are:
FINCH, HOYT, LINES, LOCKWOOD, LONGWELL, LODER, LOUNSBERY, MARSHALL, MALTBY,
