Do your records tell if any of the listed Irish Regiments
would be in Canada in 1749

Found the following for you:

***********
The Royal Regiment of Ireland 18th Regt of Foot formed 1684

The 18th, I'm afraid - were busy building roads in the Scottish
Highlands at the time, and only went to America in 1767.

*******
Thomas Whetham's Regt of Foot 27th formed 1689

They were defending Stirling Castle in 1745,
and fought at Culloden. They then did some roadbuilding in the Highlands
of Scotland "for some years" after that. At the beginning of the Seven
Years War (1756-1763) they moved to America.

**********

Richard Coote's Regt of Foot 39th formed 1702

They were employed as Marines on board the Channel Fleet in 1744-45 and
again in 1747-48. They then proceeded to Madras in 1754. No mention of
Canada.

***********
The Earl of Donegal's Regt of Foot 35th formed 1701

In Ireland from 1707 for 48 years, whereupon they went to Nova
Scotia at the beginning of the Seven Years War

**********
Viscount Mountjoy's Regt of Foot 39th formed 1701

As far as I can see, Viscount Mountjoy's Regiment of Foot was raised on
28 Jun 1701, but was disbanded in 1712.

***********
The 64th Regiment of Foot was called The 64th (Irish) Regiment of Foot
from 1740-1748, but it was then disbanded

Kitzmiller's "In Search of the Forlorn Hope" gives details of "who was
where" but only the 29th, 40th, and 45th Regiments of Foot seem to have
been in Canada in the 1748-49 period.

It is possible the 64th (Irish) Regt of Foot is the one !!
