I do very much understand "patriotism," which is love of the fatherland which
is a feeling of belonging to the land in which we grows up and/or lives.
I have those strong ties - deep affection and pride -- for my native state of
Texas and my adopted state of Oklahoma.
So yes, I understand and am proud for you to be a Canadian. It is natural for
us to feel, and I know some Canadians may resent it but I don't mean it s a
put down, that Canada is just like another state in the Union, that is, one of
us.
We are Americans, all.
