You're absolutely right - and if Profit is the Only motive - then whatever is
done it'd be for the Wrong reason.
I was speculating about the results when the profit motive is removed - take a
look at our HMOs & other sheepdip type health care delivery systems being
forced upon us now - shoddy care, impersonal care, minimal care, for a profit
motive to the impersonal insurance company & backers of the system.
Patients don't get care they deserve and doctors are no longer responsive to
patients, often because their hands are tied by the regs. set up for the
That was the point about Gov't. sponsered system of ANY kind - too much paper
work, too top heavy with paper shufflers from D.C. on down, rather than local
control and administering of Necessary programs today, not 3-5 years after the
fact, because thats what it take to get a program started from Washing DC
Murphy's Laws apply many times over with most all gov't. sponsored plans here
in the USA [you Canadians, I don't know about] - If it can be screwed up, and
covered up in paper work, it will be 10 times over - and little is
accomplished for the amout of money put into it.
I'll get off the box, before "I get my Irish up".
