Hi Jim, Most of your questions I am unable to answer, but I hope you will get
answers from someone on the List who can. Ireland as you know is-- and was in
the years that you mention -- divided into four Provinces: Ulster, Munster,
Connaught and Leinster. The Province of Ulster has nine counties: Donegal,
Derry, Antrim, Down, Armagh, Monaghan, Cavan, Fermanagh and Tyrone.
Politically what is often referred to as "Ulster" or "N. Ireland" or " the
Six Counties", (and which is so frequently in the news), comprises all of the
foregoing counties except for Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan. These latter three
counties -- geographically to the North of Ireland -- are politically in
Eire, often referred to as "Southern Ireland" I have second cousins in
Fermanagh called Stuarts, ( which is the same name as Stewart) I wish you
luck in your research, Denis.
Denis, thanks for the information. Jim Lucas, Arlington, VA
