I dont know how much has been posted on this list on this subject, but I
have all the time in the world to sort this out!!
Thank you so much for such an elegant response.
I have some awareness of Wishart and the story that J. Knox eye witnessed
his friend's martyrdom ....causing Knox's bitter hatred of things
Roman....but I know not Beze. Could you elaborate?
My own growing up was so utterly saturated with the world view of the very
orthodox Presbyterian that I come late to a glimpse that this view is not
"the only view!!" While I personally married out of the Presbyterian church
over 30 years ago, I find that my plethora of "shoulds, oughts, and musts"
remain steeped in the religious connotations of my childhood.
So, I am curious as to how the lowland Scot came to such a world view that
400+ years have seemingly followed!! Seems to me more than 7 generations!!
(Not to imply sins of the fathers, of course, just how long shadows are
cast!)
