Andrew,

Here is a correction that I must make on behalf of my home state:
Missouri and one of her favorite sons---Samuel Clemens (aka Mark
Twain). Clemens was no southerner. He was a Missourian who
later moved to Connecticutt. My grandparents actually saw
Clemens once in their hometown about 30 miles from his native
Hannibal. Missouri was a slave state and a border state, but was
not and isn't a southern state. Missouri stayed in the Union during
the Civil War and was also the home of the great Generals Ulysses
S. Grant and William T. Sherman. We are a midwestern state and
a kind of crossroads of America. Indeed the population center of
the USA is about 50 or so miles west of my home here in St. Louis.

I can see that someone from another place could get this wrong
and I don't take offense. I just thought I'd clear up that point.
