I am not sure if possums are kosher, so probably a minyan would not eat
them. It is a "critical mass" (=10) of adult Jews necessary for certain
prayer services such as saying Kaddish for a deceased ancestor. Historically,
the minyan had to be all male, but I think I've heard that some Reform and
maybe Reconstructionist congregations are including women in minyans now.
Adult would be past bar- or bat-mitzvah age. What does this have to do with
the Scot(ch)(s)(tish)-Irish list? Well, my nephew is Jewish and he is at
least 1/2 as S-I as I am. I'd like to see us all embrace all parts of our
heritages and not perpetuate old hatreds.
