The S-I newsgroup is wonderful on these word and title descriptions but
because of recent posts I am confused as to how to pronounce Lough, as in
Loughinisland, County Down. How does a native of Northern Ireland say it?
Is it pronounced as in Lock, Low, Lao or otherwise?

Suppose I should consult a dictionary but here's another one, please. How
does a native pronounce Marquess and Marquis? Do the English or French
pronounce differently? How would that Devonshire fella say it? I'm from the
States so I'm never sure about Quebec (Kehbeck or Kwebeck) either.
Thanks for your time and interest.
Lucy
