I don't think I understand the reference to ". . .our laurels are
stolen without scruple and without shame." Who was stealing from whom?
General Wayne was born in Pennsylvania and earned his sobriquet by
taking the British fort at Stony Point, NY in a night assault. If he is
celebrated in Philadelphia by his own countrymen, so what? All our
grandfathers, including the Scots, Irish, English, Normans, Saxons, and
Romans, came from somewhere else and were heroes in their own land.
That does not detract from the accomplishments of their grandchildren.
