What's Scottish about the Scottish Rite?
In my Colquhoun research I have found out that Sir Iain Colquhoun
(1887-1948) was Grand Master Mason of Scotland.
A lot of my uncles (my mother had 6 sisters) were Masons in Western
Pennsylvania. My Uncle Paul Moore from Kittanning, PA is a 33rd deg.
Scottish Rite Mason and was an active member of the Supreme Council,
Northern Jurisdiction.
The son of the current Colquhoun Chief is Malcom Colquhoun, Younger of
Luss. He married a girl from Harrisburg, PA. Their son Patrick was born
in 1980.
I know that 32 deg. Masons wear black hats. 32deg. Court of Honor have a
red band around the black hat.
33rd deg. wear a white hat. 33rd degree Supreme Council (There are only
about 11 or so)wear a purple hat.
I have an acquaintance in Helensburg. Working man. Plumber. Works on the
Colquhoun estate. He's a Mason, too. Crazy Scotsman. Earns too much
money. Flys to the US every year just to hear country music, buy
rattlesnake cowboy boots and big Texas hats. And all that wonderful
Colquhoun stuff just sitting in his lap!
